Resolves YES if the National Hurricane Center has designated at least THREE (3) distinct Atlantic basin tropical cyclones as hurricanes during the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season, with the hurricane designation issued at or before 23:59 UTC on October 15, 2026. RESOLUTION SOURCE: National Hurricane Center (nhc.noaa.gov) — public advisories and the NHC 2026 Atlantic season archive. A storm counts once it is carried at hurricane intensity (maximum sustained winds >= 64 kt / 74 mph) in an NHC advisory or in the post-season Tropical Cyclone Report. Subtropical storms do not count unless NHC classifies them at hurricane intensity. Eastern Pacific and Central Pacific storms do not count. Each named storm counts at most once, regardless of how many times it strengthens. If NHC's post-season best-track analysis upgrades an additional storm to hurricane status before this market resolves, that upgrade counts. Resolution uses NHC only — not other agencies, not media reports. CREATION CONTEXT (2026-08-22): The 2026 season has produced two named storms, Arthur and Bertha, and ZERO hurricanes. In its August 6, 2026 update NOAA maintained a below-normal outlook: 7-13 named storms, 2-6 hurricanes, 0-2 major hurricanes, with a 75% chance of a below-normal season, citing El Nino conditions that emerged in the equatorial Pacific in June. The record-latest first Atlantic hurricane in the satellite era is September 11 (Gustav 2002, Humberto 2013). So the question is not whether the season produces a hurricane — it is whether a suppressed season, starting from zero on August 22, can produce three of them through the September peak and the first half of October.
